  • Eduardo José Nunes Ribeiro is a musician, drummer, composer and teacher. Four of his collaborations won Grammys Awards, the highest award in the world music industry:

    He has been playing the drums since he was 6 years old and since then he has been working with the most diverse musical styles, he has 8 albums released as a leader or co/leader and several contributions as a drummer for several artists.

    He was born in Florianópolis, where he began his professional career and musical studies.

    He obtained a degree in Popular Music from Unicamp in 1996 and Lato Sensu in Education for Higher Education from UNIP in 2013.

    He has lived in São Paulo since 1997, where he established his professional life and worked with a wide range of musicians.

    Between 1998 and 2005 he worked with Yamandu Costa, with whom he recorded three CDs and two DVDs.

    From 1999 to the present day, he works with Chico Pinheiro with whom he recorded four CDs, participated in several national and international projects.

    In 2004, together with Fabio Torres and Paulo Paulelli, he formed Trio Corrente, with whom he recorded four CDs and has a long international career, including partnerships with musicians such as Mônica Salmaso, Leny Andrade, Leila Pinheiro, Stacey Kent, New York Voices, Mike Stern. between others.

    He also worked as a drummer with Hamilton de Holanda, João Bosco, Ivan Lins, Maria Schneider, Brad Melhdau, Joyce, Anthony Wilson, Randy Brecker, Eliane Elias, among others.

    In 2009, together with Lea Freire, Teco Cardoso, Tiago Costa and Fernando de Marco, he formed the quintet Vento em Madeira, with whom he recorded two CDs: Vento em Madeira and Brasiliana. This Group was nominated in two categories at the Brazilian Music Award in 2014: Best Album and Revelation.

    Edu is professor of drums, percussion and ensemble practice at Faculade Santa Marcelina since 2006 and Coordinator of the Popular Music area at EMESP (São Paulo State Music School) since 2014.

    Conducts workshops in Brazil and abroad at festivals and Universities. Among these works, the following stand out: California Brazil Camp (2006, 2007); One-week residencies at the Jullliard School of Music in New York in 2012 and 2013; Civebra (Brasilia Summer Festival) 2009; Curitiba Music Workshop 2010 and 2011 and Londrina Music Festival 2016.

    In 2016, he did a series of master classes along the East Coast in the USA, visiting New England Schol (Boston), UMass (University of Massachusetts), Uconn (University of Connecticut) and Five Towns College (Long Island NY); a series of Masterclasses with Grupo Vento em Madeira for the Royal Welsh College of Music in the United Kingdom and gave two workshops in South Africa at the National Youth Jazz Festival.
