Kiyoshi Kitagawa is a bassist who has been living and performing in New York for over 30 years. In this performance, he is joined by Mayuko Katakura, a pianist whom he has established a strong relationship with and together they bring a wonderfully engaging and masterful show.
Kiyoshi Kitagawa was born in Osaka in 1958. Moved to New York in 1988 and established himself as a first-call bassist in the 1990s jazz scene. In addition to performing with Kenny Garrett, Maria Schneider Orchestra, Tommy Flanagan, Cedar Walton, and Jimmy Heath, he is currently active worldwide as a regular bassist for Kenny Barron. His own leader work with Brian Blade has also attracted attention and has gained tremendous trust and evaluation from top musicians and listeners in the authentic jazz scene.
Mayuko Katakura is an acclaimed pianist who has been active in the United States for since 2002, winning the Mary Lou Williams Jazz Competition.

Kiyoshi Kitagawa nació en Osaka en el 1958. En el 1988 se mudó a Nueva York y se estableció como el bajista preferido del jazz de los 90. ニューヨーク在住30年以上のベーシスト、北川潔による約3年ぶりの一時帰国ライブは、彼が信頼を寄せるピアニスト、片倉真由子とのデュオ演奏。
北川潔は、1958年大阪生まれ。1988年からNYに移住し、その後1990年代のジャズシーンでファーストコールのベーシストとして地位を固める。ケニー・ギャレット、マリア・シュナイダー・オーケストラ、トミー・フラナガン、シダー・ウォルトン、ジミー・ヒースらとの共演の他、現在はケニー・バロンのレギュラー・ベーシストとして世界的に活躍。ブライアン・ブレイドと組んだ自身のリーダー作も話題を集め、本場ジャズシーンのトップミュージシャンやリスナーから、絶大な信頼と評価をものにしている。
片倉真由子は、2002年から約10年間アメリカで活躍し、メアリー・ルー・ウィリアムス・ジャズ・コンペティションで優勝経歴をもつ引く手数多のピアニスト。芯のあるジャズのスピリットと創造性を合わせ持つ二人による、深いインプロヴィゼージョンの世界をじっくりと堪能したい
