Kennedy Snow is Melbourne drummer and composer Sonja Horbelt – This project is a fusion of original contemporary songs and improvisations derived from a background of jazz, R&B and neo-soul. With an ensemble of Nina Ferro (vocals), Kellie Santin (saxes), Steve Sedergreen (piano/keys), Kim May (bass), Gillan Gregory (guitar) and special guests Jacinta Caruana (backing vocals) and Xani Kolac (violin), these works take you on a journey that explores lush and soulful melodies, driving grooves and emotionally connected lyrics that strike at the heart of fragility and the strength of the human condition.

Kennedy Snow has performed with video projections and also string quartet in performances at the Melbourne Recital Centre, as well as Melbourne club dates. This performance for MWIJF is the long awaited launch of “Everything It Could Be” – a series of songs recorded across the covid years by Hadyn Buxton and mixed and mastered in New York by Dave Darlington.
Sonja is a graduate of the VCA and has worked extensively as a freelance drummer with noted artists such as jazz performers Bob Sedergreen, Mickey Tucker, Andrea Keller and Sandy Evans, comedians Casey Bennetto, Geraldine Quinn, Geraldine Hickey, and Tommy Little, and cabaret/music theatre artists Rhonda Burchmore, Lucy Durack, and Amanda Harrison.
