Eme Alfonso, Cuban singer-songwriter, uses her roots to combine them with electronic sounds, world percussion and Afro-Cuban legends.
The American NPR and the British BBC identified her as “A promise of Latin music.”
She won the Cubadisco Award (Cuban Music Awards) with her two albums “Señales” and “Eme”.
Her third album has been produced by the Brazilian producer Alê Siqueira and has been recorded in Cuba and Brazil. This album will be released in Autumn 2018.
She has been part of important projects to promote the cultural diversity of Cuba such as “Para Mestizar”, sponsored by UNESCO. She is the Artistic Director of Havana World Music international festival, supported by the Cuban Ministry of Culture.
Eme comes from a family of important musicians which were the pioneers mixing Afro-Cuban music with rock and jazz. She was part of this emblematic band “Síntesis”, directed by her parents, nominated for the Latin Grammys in 2001.
When she started her solo carrier in 2008 she inherited the ability to mix the sounds of her island with other extended genres and achieved a unique sound in her music. Eme has a warm and vibrant voice at the same time, she carries her musical heritage strongly and her energy shakes all the stages in which she acts.
The band that accompanies her is formed by extraordinary Cuban musicians who are accomplices of the bipolar arrangements of the artist.
Eme won the Cubadisco Award in 2010 and 2013 for “Best Fusion Album”. In her second album she co-writes with X Alfonso and Pedro Luis Ferrer, and counts on “El Ruzzo” (artist of Orishas), Harold López-nussa and Diana Fuentes as guest artists.
Her third album “Voy” was recorded in Cuba and Brazil during 2017. It is produced by Alê Siqueira, renowned Brazilian producer. This album is the search by the artist and the producer to reach a different sound of the Afrocuban roots of Cuban music. For that reason they enrich the arrangements with new electronic sounds, contrasting harmonies and rhythms from all over the world. “Voy” has been nominated to Cubadisco Awards in the Fusion Category and obtained excellent reviews, been categorized by the Cuban Magazine AMPM as “Eme Alfonso’s wonder record”.

Su tercer álbum está producido por el productor brasileño Alê Siqueira y ha sido grabado en Cuba y en Brasil. El álbum se lanzará en 2018.

La banda que la acompaña está formada por músicos cubanos extraordinarios, quienes son cómplices de los arreglos bipolares de esta artista.

Su tercer álbum “Voy” ha sido grabado entre Cuba y Brasil durante 2017. Está producido por Alê Siqueira, reconocido productor brasileño. El disco es la búsqueda de la artista y el productor para darle otra sonoridad a las raíces africanas de la música cubana. Para ello enriquecen los arreglos con sonidos electrónicos novedosos, armonías contrastantes y ritmos de todas partes del mundo. “Voy” ha sido nominado al Premios Cubadisco en la categoría de Fusión y ha obtenido excelentes críticas al punto de ser calificado por la revista cubana AMPM como el “disco maravilla de Eme Alfonso”.
